Under the Family and Medical Leave Act, eligible employees:
- Are entitled to 12 weeks leave during a 12-month period for qualifying family and medical reasons if you are an eligibile employee.
- Have the right to a continuation of their health benefits during leave
Under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA), eligible workers and their families have the right to:
- Temporary continuation of health coverage under their former employer’s group health plan after termination of employment
- Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), you have the right to
- Not be denied eligibility or continued eligibility to enroll for benefits under a group health plan based on any health factor
- Not be charged more for this coverage than other similary situated individuals based on any health factor
